The Red Lion is located in the uniquely beautiful location of Shoreham-by-Sea. This area is bordered on the north by the South Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the west by the open valley of the River Adur and on the south by the river and Shoreham Beach. Such close proximity to the South Downs, river and coast make Shoreham-by-Sea an exceptional destination. The Red Lion too is proud of its own unique beauty, our 16 th century Coaching Inn offers a warm and atmospheric welcome.

Low oak beams, a log fire, cosy surroundings and a friendly atmosphere make The Red Lion the perfect choice when visiting Shoreham-by-Sea. Our menu offers something for everyone; the bar is a welcome haven and the company always congenial. With a beer garden for summer days and nights and themed menus, The Red Lion is a year round attraction that is as loved by locals as the many visitors who come specifically to enjoy the food and area.

For over 15 years, we have been getting it right and have all the best credentials, including an award by Egon Ronay for our superb food and another for ‘Best Beer’. Our menu endeavours to cater to all tastes and the ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible to ensure freshness and flavour. The home-cooked lunches, evening meals and function menus include such delights as Warm Cheese Toasted Ciabatta Melts with a choice of delicious fillings, Traditional Fish and Chips, Bangers and Mash, Red Lion Curry, Barnsley Lamb Chop and so much more.

We stock a full and fine range of Real Ales, Lagers and Ciders and have a well stocked wine cellar too. A lovely sun terrace, function facilities, BBQ’s, attractive garden, friendly staff, no machines, separate ‘no smoking’ restaurant and car parking all add to the pleasure of a visit here to The Red Lion. This is a genuine free house, totally individual and offering a selection of different guest beers every week often from smaller breweries. We are also home to the Adur Beer Festival at Easter and a smaller one in September.

One of our customers described us best when he said “Sitting outside of a summers evening, you can smell the salt tang of the river Adur flowing by just over the road.” We look forward to welcoming you.
